The US Department of Education released a memo today outlining ways that higher education institutions can support students that may be experiencing the hunger cliff.  With the end of the public health emergency, Minnesota higher education institutions can play a critical role in helping students get the resources they need.

The Department encourages institutions to:

1. Support Students in Applying or Recertifying for SNAP Before the End of the Temporary Exemptions

2.  Help Students Understand Eligibility for SNAP

3. Partner with State SNAP Agencies and IHEs on Outreach and Application Process Improvement

4. Work with State SNAP Agencies and IHEs to Identify Programs as IHEs
